The Collection & Archive brief ask to create an archival website that displays 3 different collection that consist to 100 images that fit into the overall concept of the archive

Final Design

An interactive data visualisation where users can interact with the design.

Ideation Process

The process started with reflecting on life during the pandemic versus before. This contrast sparked my concept for 2021. Drawn to social and political news, I chose these as key themes, with the pandemic as a natural focus. Headlines became central to my idea, showcasing their power to shape stories with just a single sentence.

Design Process

To begin, I turned to Pinterest and Behance for inspiration, exploring styles that could influence my designs. I then brainstormed interactive ideas, focusing on one word to encapsulate the year: chaos. This led me to design the collection in a way that visually represents chaos and evokes a sense of overwhelm. The goal was to replicate the emotional experience of living through that year within my work.

Reflection

This was my first project using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to code the entire experience. It was one of the most challenging projects I’ve tackled, as I had limited knowledge of coding at the time.

Looking back, I would improve the site by making it fully responsive, as it is currently only optimised for desktop devices. Additionally, I would add a toggle button on the photo collections page to allow users to navigate back and view other collections more easily.
